Sugar Cane & Co. 1953 Type 2 Jacket 13oz Brown Duck SC14602 Regular price$8,097.00
Sugar Cane is a Japanese brand that focuses on recreating the early vintage tooling history. The brand's history dates back to the 1950s, but it wasn't until the late 1980s that Sugar Cane began to establish a reputation as a Japanese tannin manufacturer, a reputation that is well-deserved to this day! This is the Sugar Cane version of one of the all-time iconic tannin jackets! Introduced in the 1950s, the Type 2 jacket has stood the test of time with its minimalist design. The Type 2 jacket was introduced in 1953 as an upgraded version of the traditional tannin tooling jacket. Like its predecessor, it features pleating and a square cut, but the "waist" or "back buckle" that adjusts the width of the jacket is replaced by adjustment loops on either side of the hem. A second front pocket is also added to make it easy to distinguish from the previous generation - one pocket = 1 jacket, two pockets = 2 jacket! Paired with a pair of five-bag jeans and a plain white T-shirt, the 2 jacket formed the signature of the emerging rebellious youth group at the time. If you've ever seen Elvis wearing tannins, this is the jacket he's wearing! The fabric used is 13 ounces of Japanese cotton canvas, which has been pre-washed to be soft and comfortable from the first wear and will not shrink when first washed.
